  • Wired

sitting at work right now, today was a really good relaxed day at work considering i was starting to get pretty overwhelmed with the amount of work i needed to have done. its nearing the end of a big project so things are calming down a bit. i'm drinking a mocha that clara so kindly got for me (she loves giving gifts) and i am so wired. coffee always has a weird effect on me. sometimes i won't feel anything until hours later when i get jittery but for some reason, this mocha that i'm having as i write this is taking affect immediately. maybe i'll go for a run after work...actually i will go for a run. NICE.

so hurrication has come to an end for austin, but we're definitely still feeling the effects of it and its awesome. i walked outside of my house today and it was a sweet 75 degrees and breezy. i'm not too sure if i'm excited about fall coming yet though. i kind of liked having summer around...

though the hurricane didn't hit austin, it did hit galveston and houston and the surrounding areas. jo and i are supposed to sing at a gala in houston this weekend, but we're not sure if its still going on and can't get a hold of her parents to ask...we'll see!

i can't help but think that the many things that have occurred in the past month happened for a reason. although not everything was exactly what i wanted, things are going really well at the moment and are starting to fall into place. i'm having so much unexpected fun.

october is gonna be crazzzzyy! i'll be out of town 3 out of 4 weekends. can't wait!!!

  • Exciting things are happening!

I now have an awesome job! I am now the junior designer for a company called MidCity Homes, Inc. Urban Design and Custom Renovation. My first few days were fun and very exciting. Lisa, my boss, and I hung out and went through the current projects the company is working on. She showed me some of the design sheets that I'll be making and how presentation boards are to be prepared for the client and most of the vendors and contractors the company works with. I got my parking spot, office key, mailbox key, I have an awesome huge desk and new computer and company email address and later on I will get business cards! The thing i find quite ironic is that the building that my office is in is the same building that I sent our actors at BLVD to for auditions and such.

I really think I'm going to enjoy working here. I love design and the area of design that I'll be working in is right up my alley. How exciting for me! yay! I'm going to be like a sponge and soak up everything that I can about this industry. I'll get to see how everything works from the architectural blueprints to the construction to the interior design...everything! One goal I have in life is to flip a house. I have always always wanted to flip a house and because of my job I'll have the knowledge and experience to know what it takes to flip a house and to fulfill one of my life goals. yessssss

    Here goes the list:

    -School starts Monday. bleh!
-Nat and Stu shaved Zoey but left a mane of fur around her head! pics later...
-V and I went down to west 6th last night and we quite disappointed. frat boys and sorority girls 5 years after college. super bleh
-Went to Ikea again, everything i went there for was out of stock. a disappointing trip.
-We had a dinner party Thursday night. Quite a success
-Cook-out tonight at Jo's with mama and papa De La Cruz. I'm making Spinach Crab Dip mmmmm
-We bought showtime on cable and now we can watch Weeds and Diary of a Callgirl
-Saving up for the 2012 olympics in London!
-Too many engagement/ shower/ wedding/ honeymoon pics on facebook
-Tights and knee high boots in the summer time with a tube top dress has got to go! gross. you lied to her when you told her she looked cute

  • 35+ days of over 100 degree weather

my oh my it has been so hot in austin lately. the meteorologists have predicted a 40% chance of rain for the next four days. I really hope it rains because its so dang hot. hot hot hot hot hot.

so my sister and i have just moved to a new place. it still doesn't feel like home. one of our friends has been staying with us until she can move into her new place, so our place is like a storage for her things. i can't wait to be finally settled in. we live right next to a train track that we didn't think was still working but lo and behold it is a working RR track and it is so loud! considering maybe finding another place??? maybe? if we can find a deal like we did with this place....we'll see.

summer went by too fast. this may be the first summer in a long time that i have not traveled overseas and i have an itch to just be somewhere new and to be a tourist. there's just always something i love about being unknown in a completely different place and exploring and experiencing new things and meeting new people. where to next?

i did something this weekend that i thought would never happen. i hung out with frat boys. we call them fratastics. we make fun of them so much for talking in low raspy voices, wearing brightly colored polos paired with brightly colored pleated shorts and loafers so never in a hundred years would i have ever pictured myself hanging out with these kinds of boys. in my own defense though, i had to. they were staying with me so i had to be the good host and take them around. how do i feel about fratastics now you might want to know? ehhh they were ok. they were funny. but all the stereotypes we had of frat boys were confirmed.

i love ikea, but i think i've been to ikea too many times in a short amount of time.

    thats all for now :)

    edit::

can't believe i forgot!! my best friend is ENGAGED. yes i said it. engaged. i knew it was going to happen i just didn't think it was going to happen this soon! now reality has sunk in. having someone that is like a family member to me engaged is crazy. i absolutely can not picture myself in this situation for at LEAST the next 3 years. no way, i'm so not ready.. its going to be so weird that the next time i see her she'll have a rock on her left hand. My bitching aside, I am VERY excited for her though. Another wedding in less than a year! Shes going to be the most beautiful bride ever. until i get married of course! bahaha
